How apt that Jean Claude Juncker, the lush Luxembourger,
should choose a saloon metaphor to illustrate his interpretation of the Great British
exit bill. He said, “if you are sitting
at a bar and ordering 28 beers and the suddenly some of your colleagues are
leaving, it’s OK, but they have to pay.”
Quite so, but only for the last round.
After all, we gave you plenty of notice that we were leaving the party
and going home, just as soon as we had finished our drink. It is quite unreasonable to expect us to
contribute to the rest of your night out – we should have no idea what you might
get up to after we had left!
£20B is still a serious figure to stump up for 'the last round' wouldn't you say?
