The Hip Replacement - 6

Since the setback at my GP surgery, my physical recover has continued - I think quite well.  I say, "I think quite well," because research on line reveals a vast differences in respective recovery patterns.  That said, as I approach 5 weeks from surgery, I am feeling pleased with my progress.  I have followed the exercise advice to the letter and have walked daily, at least a mile at a time.  As a result, the muscles in my leg are gradually gaining strength to the extent that, today, I managed a full mile walk without a crutch or stick.  It is still a bit of an effort to get moving, particularly after sitting for a while, but the discomfort soon wears off as I get under way.  I am now sleeping well with no need to rise during the night other than for a call of nature.  Indeed, for the last few nights, I have found myself sleeping on both operated and non-operated sides without ill effect.  I have driven my car which is an automatic and does not require the use of my operated leg.  I have an appointment with my excellent surgeon a week tomorrow and am confident of walking into his consulting room unaided (and a very satisfied smile on my face).  My surgeon offered me the chance for him to fix it and it looks as if he has been successful.
