Standing Together

Prime Minister:

I entirely agree that, as a nation, we must stand together to protect ourselves.  Your difficulty, if I may suggest, will be to prevent your followers drifting off in different directions, thus diluting your purpose.  In my experience, in difficult situations, an effective leader will hold his team together with a plan that, at least, offers hope of eventual salvation, however hopeless the current plight appears.  The time for platitudes and appeals for tolerance are, I suggest, over.  If you want our support in standing together, then you need to give us a plan around which we can coalesce - how you are going to deal with the people who are becoming terrorists and those communities that are giving them shelter.  Notwithstanding the predictable howls of protest from certain political classes, I think you may be surprised by the enthusiasm that such a robust rallying call could generate amongst the ordinary people you are contracted to protect.
