Why We Voted Leave

According to The Times leader about Brexit, “the case for Brexit rests to a large extent on trade.”  That may be true for the BBC and other media still fighting the result of the Referendum but the people who matter, those who voted to leave, the majority voted thus because they believed that decisions about the UK should be taken in the UK.  I expect that most of those who voted to remain did so because they were afraid of the consequences of leaving.  Those fears are still being stoked by the largely hostile media missing no opportunities to rubbish whatever efforts are made by the Ministers responsible for negotiating our withdrawal, particularly the chimera of an all-singing and all-dancing “trade deal.”

We must continue to make the case for leaving by stressing that European Union Democracy is an oxymoron.  We, the British people, voted to leave because we could see through the EU’s strategy of governing without political consent.

I have said before that, when you are up to your arse in alligators, it is sometimes difficult to remember that the aim was to drain the swamp. So, let us keep our negotiators focussed on the mandate – the nitty-gritty of trade arrangements will fall in place once our European “partners” recognise that we are serious!
